BFE in concert.
ARTE have acquired the broadcasting rights to the BFE concert in Bonneville, France, which will take place on July 18 this summer. Watch this space for more info on the exact timing of the broadcast, and don't miss your chance to be in the audience during this free concert.
The lost multitrack tapes of Isaac Hayes and Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
Believed to have been forever lost, the original 2" multitrack tapes from the 1996 collaboration between Brooklyn Funk Essentials and Isaac Hayes, were amazingly recovered from a dusty Bed-Stuy basement yesterday.
The soul music legend worked together with BFE and producer Danny Madden on music for a movie, where he was to star alongside blacksploitation diva Pam Grier. But the film was eventually re-written, and neither the music or the two megastars were in the final version of it. What will happen to the tapes now is anybody's guess.
May has been a wonderful time of sweet reunions for Brooklyn Funk Essentials, as recording of the new album has progressed in studios in Brooklyn and New Jersey.
